Members of MKBLP had a unique opportunity to engage directly with the city's Prospective Parliamentary Candidates ahead of July's general election.

The private Election Hustings event, hosted by MKBLP and chaired by Nicholas Mann, is supported by a diverse coalition of organisations across the city, including MK Business Council, Women in Enterprise, MK Rotary, and the Chamber of Commerce.

The event will see candidates from the Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democrat, Reform UK, and Green parties, that will represent all three constituencies, fielding questions from the business community, providing a crucial platform for dialogue about their policies and visions for the future of Milton Keynes, Buckingham, and Bletchley.

Louise Wall, Chief Executive of the Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes Chamber of Commerce expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating: "As a Voice of Business for our region, the Chamber of Commerce is pleased to support our partners at the Milton Keynes Business Leaders Partnership (MKBLP) in delivering their general election hustings event. We are committed to working with all candidates to ensure the issues that our members report to us are heard at the very highest levels."

Yvette Lamidey, Chair of the MK Business Council, highlighted the importance of the event, commenting: "The Milton Keynes Business Council is supporting this event since it’s important that business owners and business leaders understand not just what the majority party when in government will do to support businesses, but what the candidates will pledge to do for Milton Keynes businesses. It’s way more than just the manifesto pledges that each party is making, it’s their personal commitment to lobby on our behalf. We hope the questions raised will show the candidates the topics that really matter to our business community and why."

Rotary MK President, Stan Muchongwe, comments: “The strength of Milton Keynes lies in its diversity. Rotary MK is proud to reflect this diversity, with members from different cultures, ages, genders, and ethnicities across the city.  We are pleased to support this forthcoming husting event to ensure that every promise made reflects the values of this vibrantly diverse community while understanding how the party representatives plan to support local charities.”

Michelle Theuma, Chair of Women in Enterprise, concludes by commenting: “Women in Enterprise are proud to partner with MKBLP for the forthcoming Election Hustings event because we believe in empowering our community with informed choices. A hustings event, ahead of a general election, is crucial for the business community in Milton Keynes as it provides a platform to hear directly from candidates, understand their policies, and evaluate their impact on local businesses. Engaging in this dialogue ensures that the voices of business leaders are heard and considered in the political process.”

“We would like to thank all partners who have supported our ambition to deliver this event to as diverse a business audience as possible,” comments Nicholas Mann, MKBLP Chair. “This election hustings event will be the only business-focused hustings to be convened and exemplifies MKBLP's commitment to facilitating meaningful conversations between business leaders and political representatives. Further, it underpins the organisation’s dedication to representing the diverse business community in Milton Keynes.”
